How many tables do I need for my wedding?

Enter your guest count and how many seats each table holds. The calculator shows how many tables you need, how the last table fills and how many spare seats you have.

11 tables

10 full tables of 10, and one with 2. 8 seats free across the room.

How the calculation works

Tables needed = (guests, minus two if you have a sweetheart table, plus your spare seats) divided by seats per table, rounded up. Spare seats are extra places you want free for plus-ones and late changes.

Check table sizes with your venue first: the same table can seat different numbers depending on chairs, centrepieces and the room layout. Then use our seating chart maker to place everyone, or read how to make a wedding seating chart.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests fit at a round table?

It depends on the diameter. Venues commonly seat 8 to 10 at smaller rounds and 10 to 12 at larger ones, but confirm with your venue because chairs and centrepieces change the comfortable number.

Should I plan for empty seats?

A spare seat or two across the room makes late RSVPs and plus-ones much easier. Seating every table completely full leaves no room for changes.

Does the sweetheart table count toward my tables?

It is usually a separate small table, so the calculator takes the two of you out of the round-table count when you tick the box.
